Capital Improvements Program Committee

Responsibilities

To advise and guide the Board of Selectmen in planning future capital expenditures for the Town of Tuftonboro.

To provide a spreadsheet to the Selectmen, the Budget Committee, the Planning Board and theTown projecting capital expenditures forward for ten years, to be updated annually.

The CIP Committee has defined a Capital Project to be a specified item or activity with a cost of at least $10,000 and with a useful life of two years or more.

Typical Capital Projects include:

  • Purchasing vehicles or other equipment
  • Purchasing land or buildings
  • Constructing, expanding, or renovating a building
  • Paving and upgrading roads
  • Contracting for services with a work order for a defined task

The CIP provides a formal, legally recognized bridge between the Town’s Master Plan and the annual budgeting activity.  The CIP report, with its identified costs and forward-looking timetable, is the action plan to implement the goals of the Master Plan.
