Dog Picture

Reminder that all dogs are required by State Law to be Registered by April 30th.

The registrant is required to produce a valid rabies certificate for the dog and if applicable spaying/neutering certificate. Licenses can be obtained in person, by mail or online with the proper documentation and fee. Dog licenses are available for purchase beginning in January each year.

Annual license fees are:

$7.00           Spayed or neutered dogs or puppies 3-7 months old

$10.00         Male or female dogs - NOT neutered or spayed

$2.50           Dog owners 65 or older, for the first dog only

Late fees of $1.00 per month will apply after June 1.  If dogs are not licensed, a civil forfeiture which carries a $25.00 fine may be issued by the police.

The Town Clerk is required by law to report all unlicensed dogs to the Select Board in June. The Select Board must then report these dog owners to the Tuftonboro Police Department which triggers the civil forfeiture process. An additional $25 per unlicensed dog will then be charged to the owner on top of the regular fee and monthly fees.

Per NH state law, any dogs that remain unlicensed as of June 1st will be charged an additional monthly fine on top of the regular license fee. This charge will increase monthly until the dog is licensed.
