E-Registration for Vehicles

Vehicle Registrations

You always start with this office when you need to do new registrations, a renewal registration or transfer a registration. A registration will be prepared and the calculation made for the appropriate fee.

The Town Clerk’s office is an On-Line Municipal Agent for the State of New Hampshire Motor Vehicles, allowing us to complete most transactions for the State portion of the registration. We can complete renewals up to 4 months in advance and up to 12 months late. Our office mails registration renewal notices which will serve as 1) reminder; 2) listing of all vehicles and renewal fees; 3) instructions for renewing by mail. A stamped, self-addressed envelope is required for return of completed registrations. Those who come into the office to process renewals can present either the renewal mailer or each current valid registration.

Our office accepts CASH & CHECKS ONLY.

To RENEW vehicle registrations online, please CLICK HERE - new vehicles and transfer registrations must be done at the Town Clerk's office.

Vehicle Titles

Vehicles that are year 2000 or newer will need a title. If there are two owners on the title, both must be present to sign the new title application. If one or both persons are not able to be present to sign the title application, you will need to complete a notarized Power of Attorney form for someone to sign the title application on your behalf. You can print a copy of the Power of Attorney form HERE. Those vehicles older than the year 2000 require a bill of sale, copy of a previous NH registration or a NH or Out-of-State Title or a VIN verification (TDMV 19A-available at the Town Clerk’s Office). The VIN verification form is needed whenever you do not have a previous NH registration or a NH or Out-of-State title. The VIN verification form must be completed by a NH law enforcement officer, authorized NH licensed auto dealer, or an authorized NH inspection station. They must physically look at the vehicle to complete this form.

Transfers

You may transfer your current registration and plate to a new vehicle. The first name on the old registration must be the first name on the new registration. Your current registration is required to transfer. If you do not have your current registration (lost, destroyed, misplaced) you can obtain a certified duplicate copy from our office for $18.00 ($15.00 for the State of NH-MV and $3.00 for the Town of Tuftonboro).

Lease Vehicle Transfers and Surviving Spouse Transfers are the only time when a transfer can be made where the first owner of the original registration does NOT match the first owner of the transfer registration. Depending on the circumstances, you may need to complete the transfer at a Motor Vehicle Substation or the Concord DMV.
