Selectmen’s Work Session January 8, 2008

PRESENT: Chairman Weeks, Selectman Stockman, Selectman Duffy, Jeanie Forrester

The Selectmen met briefly with Tony Lyons to discuss the selection of Agricultural Commission members as presented by Lyon. The discussion included the terms for each member and the stipend. It was agreed that the Secretary and the Chair would receive $100 each for a stipend. Per Mr. Lyon’s request, other members would not receive a stipend. Selectman Stockman made a motion to accept Mr. Lyon’s recommendation for Agricultural Commission members. The motion was seconded by Selectman Duffy. Vote on the motion was unanimous.

The Selectmen reviewed the Personnel Administration budget. Chairman Weeks made a motion to accept the 2008 budget in the amount of $365,669.20. Selectman Stockman seconded the motion. Vote on the motion was unanimous.

The Selectmen reviewed the proposed warrant articles for 2008. There were a total of 22 articles, with 14 being money articles. After some discussion, the Selectmen agreed to remove the Transfer Station Recycling Improvements. The Fire Station Air Pac Grant was added as an article.

Forrester will research the cost for improvements to the High Street Culvert and have the number included in the list.

There was a brief discussion about capital capacity with Chairman Weeks noting that the CIP committee had failed to include the Special for Tar at $185k. This figure needed to be included in the total capacity figure, which would increase capacity to $725k (CIP previously had capacity set at $540k).

The Selectmen reviewed all the articles and discussed their support of each, but did not take a formal vote for or against any article.
