Copies
of “Mirror Lake Water Quality Monitoring: 2006” and “Moultonborough Bay Water
Quality Monitoring: 2006” were received.
The
TCC budget was approved by the Selectmen and the Budget Committee.
It
was suggested that the TCC place an ad in the Granite State News, asking anyone
interested in being on the TCC to submit a letter of interest. TCC is seeking a
replacement for Ted Wright.
Discussion on
Environmental Assessment (EA) of 19 Mile Brook
The
Tuftonboro Association supports the TCC in getting baseline information on 19
Mile Brook before Wolfeboro begins their WWTF upgrade project. TCC feels a
baseline study of all brooks in the area would be useful.
Phelps
talked with Ray Burton, who will contact Commissioner Burak
and meet with him to discuss concerns. TCC hopes to interest the Governor as
well.
Phelps
and Chehames consulted a lawyer, who expressed the opinion that the Water
Council will not change their decision.
Chehames’
research of injection projects similar to Wolfeboro’s turned up projects that
1. were near running water, rather than lakes, and 2. were able to remediate any problems that arose.
There
was discussion about placing another ad in the Granite State News (to run a
week or two before Town Meeting), explaining what has been done and what the
TCC plans to do. In addition, it was suggested that townspeople in the area of
potential impact be encouraged to have their wells tested, to establish a
baseline. Water testing kits could be displayed at the annual Town Meeting.
The
TCC encourages Wolfeboro to raise the level of purity of the effluent prior to
pumping it to the injection site.
Steve
Truchon has been hired by the TCC as project manager for the EA. His first job
has been to establish criteria for the EA proposal requests, and to make a list
of firms available to take on the project. Phelps will then send out letters
for qualifications and requests for proposals. There will be a special meeting
of the TCC on Monday, January 14 to discuss the above.
