Work Session January 24, 2008

I. CALL TO ORDER: Chairman Weeks opened the work session at 9:10am. Duffy asked for delay until 9:30 to wait for Stockman and Philips, request denied.

II. Public Safety Facility Committee: Discussion began on Selectmen’s charge to proposed Public Safety Committee. Duffy expressed concern about the final draft being too restrictive to committee. Weeks objected saying it wasn’t.

At 9:20 Stockman seated and wished to continue without Philips. Stockman felt instructions were adequate. Duffy expressed concern that Philips’ original document’s content not expressed in final draft; (wording, content – intent).

9:30 Philips seated and joined discussion. Duffy presented argument as to the final draft; cost, police & fire together and use of Jeff Taylor conclusions. Stockman and Weeks disagreed with Duffy. Philips saw merits to both sides of the discussion, but felt document could use amendments.

Duffy made a motion to discontinue the process of selecting a committee till after Election Day. Spirited discussion followed about progress in the process of selecting a board. No action taken on Duffy’s motion. Philips suggested Duffy put forward a draft letter of instructions that will be discussed at one final meeting on Wednesday January 30^th, 2008. Duffy accepted. Short discussion by Public followed.

III. ADJOURNMENT: Chairman Weeks adjourned the work session at 10.00
