Chairman Albee called the meeting to order at 9:00 am. The first order of business was review of the minutes. Selectman Weeks made a correction to the minutes and then made a motion to accept the minutes as corrected. Seconded by Selectman Stockman with all in favor.
At approximately 9:00 Selectmen met with Bill Magee and
Richie Clyne. Mr. Magee and Mr. Clyne had applied to the state for a dealer’s
license in order to sell antique and classic cars in
At approximately 9:05 Selectmen met with Scott Greenwood. Mr. Greenwood advised that the selectmen have to give their approval to Atlantic Leasing for the compactor to be moved. He also requested notification as to when this will be done so they will have time to prepare for it. Chairman Albee said he would contact both Jay Poulin from HEB and Atlantic Leasing. Selectman Weeks said that the signs for the new traffic pattern have to be ordered as soon as possible because they will be needed when the new compactor is in place. Mr. Greenwood said he would check into it – he thought he would be able to get some for free or at minimal cost. The Selectmen said they might have to be at the Transfer Station for a couple of days directing traffic. The new pattern puts recycling first and it is hoped that this will increase recycling.
Chairman Albee reported that the Safety Committee has scheduled inspections for today 6/12, Wednesday 6/14 and next Monday 6/19 all at 6 pm.
Fred Sargent asked to change the island trash pickup from 7/29 to 7/22. The islanders will be notified of the change.

Chairman Albee announced that the town was awarded an additional $141,500.00 in federal grant money for the Cheney Easement. This brings the total grant money to $215,000.00. The Selectmen discussed what is needed to close on the easement, which they hope to do by the end of August. Wayne Cheney has expressed some concern regarding general liability insurance. Selectman Stockman said that he had looked into it for Mr. Cheney but was not successful because of the condition of the building.
Chairman Albee reported that he had attended a FEMA meeting
last Thursday with Road Agent Steve Hunter. The reimbursement is at 75% for
covered expenses. He also noted that a lot of FEMA money is earmarked for
mitigation projects to prevent future flooding. An upgrade of the catch basin
on
Selectman Stockman met with Richard Lovatt to advise him that as the oldest resident in Tuftonboro he would be awarded the Boston Post Cane. The presentation will take place at next week’s selectmen’s meeting.
Chairman Albee reported that a letter from Ann Hackl advised she would be stepping down and would not be seeking reappointment to the Conservation Commission. Her letter included several recommendations for appointments to the commission. The Planning Board, ZBA and Parks & Rec have not submitted any recommendations for appointments as yet.
Joe Kowalski asked if the road striping has been scheduled yet. Selectmen Weeks said that it was an approved item in the Road Agent’s budget so it would be done sometime after the roads are paved. She will speak to the road agent about it when she meets with him about the painting at the Transfer Station.
The Selectmen discussed the letter from John Zimmer to reconsider his property assessment. Mr. Zimmer provided documentation from a soil scientist, which shows that because of the wetlands the property cannot be subdivided. The assessment will be reviewed again for further reductions.
The High Street Bridge culvert needs to be addressed this year.
Chairman Albee asked each Selectmen to review the website survey replies this week so the subject can be discussed next week.
The draft recommendation from Blake Cullimore from MRI has been delayed a week.
