At approximately 9:05 Selectmen met with Jeff Scipione who came to observe but was also waiting for approval of a building permit which involves finishing a basement as a rec room. Selectman Weeks said that this subject was brought to the Planning Board at their meeting on Thursday and it was the consensus of the board that it was an approved use in a residential area, it was pre-existing, there was no expansion of the footprint and that the septic was in order so the permit could be approved without any further delay.

Selectman Stockman advised that he had spoken to Cheryl Williams regarding the dry hydrant. She said that she understood that the fire department still had the right to use the pond but still wanted it to be capped. It was agreed to wait until the ground is not quite so soft. The fire department cleaned out the fire pond at the library last week.
Chairman Albee reported that Chief Thompson was recommending Zane Sundquist be appointed to the Fire Department. The Selectmen approved the recommendation.
At approximately 9:10 Selectmen met with Road Agent Steve Hunter. Chairman Albee asked if there were any compensable flood damage due to last weeks rain. He will also look at the Melvin wharf. Mr. Hunter stated that the repairs for the flood damage could be covered in the summer budget. Chairman Albee thought it might help the permit process by getting involved in the request for assistance by FEMA. Mr. Hunter said he would put together some preliminary numbers regarding the amount spent on flood damage. The selectmen received an e-mail on an upcoming teleconference on Tuesday at 3 pm with Bruce Cheney, Director of NH Division of Emergency Management and the Principal State Agent of FEMA. The Selectmen asked the Administrative Assistant to sign on and listen in on the conference.

The Selectmen advised that the Code Office hours are still to be determined. What is most important is that people know when the code officer will be in the office. At this point it should be at least the prior office hours on Tuesday and Thursday as people are most familiar with those hours.

There is no Selectmen’s meeting next week due to the Memorial Day holiday.
