At approximately 3:05 Selectmen met with Fire Chief Adam Thompson. Chief Thompson reported 113 fire, 43 medical, 15 service and 4 paramedic calls for a total of 175 calls so far this year. This number is slightly ahead of this time last year. There have been 10 oil burner inspections. Chief Thompson recommended appointing George Delaney as firefighter/paramedic. Selectmen approved the appointment on the recommendation of the Chief. A discussion regarding number of personnel ensued; it was determined that the number of people needed is a judgment call by the Chief.

Dry hydrant maintenance has started. Pump testing is complete. A thank you will be sent to Bob Brock for his work on tree removal at the Mirror Lake station.

Chairman Stockman announced that tonight’s meeting is being taped and will be broadcast on Adelphia channel 3 on Wednesday at 7 pm. This is a six-week trial to gauge the public’s response.

At approximately 3:15 Selectmen met with Bill Holmes and Code Officer Ted Wright. Mr. Holmes stated that he has met with a soil scientist regarding his Leavitt Lane property and found that he needs a wetlands crossing permit. He will be meeting with the wetlands scientist to do a topographical map for the property in preparation to getting the proper permits. In the meantime Mr. Holmes offered to get a poly-house to put his vehicles and other equipment in. Mr. Holmes has started to remove junk from his Hidden Valley property – some going to the Transfer Station and some to Leavitt Lane. The Selectmen approved the transfer of             some of his collection to Leavitt Lane; as long as he does not accumulate any new junk it is more important at this time to cleanup the Hidden Valley property.  The Selectmen also stated that it does not serve any purpose to spend the money on a poly-house. As long as Mr. Holmes demonstrates he is moving towards erecting the building and cleaning up and getting rid of stuff they would not require him to remove all of his property at this time or to put it into a poly-house. The Code Officer will monitor Mr. Holmes progress.

Rick Friend informed the Selectmen that no work has been done on area around the launching ramp on Lake Road in Melvin Village. Last year he had brought several items to their attention. The sinkholes have not been filled and the grass is not being mowed. The Selectmen will look into it.

At approximately 3:30 Selectmen met with Jay Poulin to go over preliminary drawings of the Transfer Station renovation. After an inspection of the existing building by Mr. Poulin it was determined that the walls will need to be reinforced to support the overhang. The relocation of the telephone pole was discussed and Mr. Poulin was asked to look into putting the lines underground. Several other items were discussed. Mr. Poulin will return in a couple of weeks with additional information and a cost comparison of reinforcing the walls.

At 4:15 the bids for the Town House renovation were opened. Two bids were received:

The contract will be awarded on Monday 6/27.

Selectman Albee will look over the Time Warner Cable Contract and report next week.

Selectman Weeks submitted her draft of the Cheney Farm easement explanation. Some changes were suggested and will be incorporated for next week. This will be included as part of the minutes and will be posted on the town’s website.

A motion was made by Selectman Albee to grant, as per MRI’s recommendation, an abatement in the amount of $1,038.54 for Ellen Laase Revocable Trust (40-4-5). Seconded by Selectman Weeks with all in favor.

A motion was made by Chairman Stockman to grant, as per MRI’s recommendation, an abatement in the amount of $1,388.61 for Tuftonboro Estate Trust (58-1-5). Seconded by Selectman Weeks with all in favor.

Selectmen approved and signed the Supplemental Intent to Excavate by Middle Road Trust.

Selectman Weeks spoke to Dan and Sandy Libby – neither one wants to be reappointed to the Parks & Rec Committee. Eric Roseen will make some calls from the surveys received last year to people who expressed an interest in being a part of the committee.

Tony Lyon announced that the Planning Board would be hosting an Ice Cream Social on Thursday July 14th from 6:45 to 9 pm at the Tuftonboro School. The board and a representative of Burnt Rock will present the results of the Master Plan survey.
