Minutes:
The Selectmen’s meeting minutes of 2-28-05 were approved with a minor correction.
Items for Signature: Appointment to Parks & Rec for Betsey
McCarthy; Veterans Tax Credit Application for William Libby.
At approximately 6:30
Selectmen met with Code Officer Ted Wright. Mr. Wright reported that building
permits for 2005 are being issued at the same rate as 2004. Mr. Wright then
expressed concern that the cleanup of a certain property in Hidden
Valley is taking too long. The
building on Route 171, which will house the vehicles and other objects, has
been started but has not progressed very far. This has been an issue now for a
couple of years. Selectmen advised Mr. Wright to speak to Town Counsel for
advice. Mr. Wright also proposed training someone to cover for him while on
vacation. Lane Evans has expressed an interest in training for the position.
Mr. Wright has asked him to put a resume together to give to the Selectmen.
Chairman Weeks advised that there are companies that offer part-time,
occasional services such as MRI. NHBOA was
also suggested as a resource. At this point Mr. Wright announced he is taking
the surveyors test on April 15th and will know in June if he has
passed. At that time he will probably have to resign as Code Officer if he
intends to work in Tuftonboro as a surveyor.
Selectmen approved and signed the following:
- Appointment
to Parks & Rec Committee for Betsey McCarthy
- Veterans
Credit Application for William Libby
- Eagle
Scout Project – Graydon Steensma
At approximately 7:00
Selectmen met with Boy Scout Graydon Steensma. Graydon submitted a plan to
clear the trail between Tuftonboro School
and the library as his Eagle Project. He also plans to build a bridge and a
bench and to do some landscaping. The approximate cost is $600-$700 most of
which he will attempt to get donated. The project has to be done by his 18th
birthday, October 14, 2005.
After some discussion a motion was made by Selectman Albee to approve the
project. Seconded by Selectman Stockman with all in favor.
Selectmen discussed which Selectman would speak for warrant
articles 14 to 29 at Town Meeting.
Selectmen will be at the Town House on Election Day
at 10 am and then take turns being
there while the polls are open.
Resident Fran Laase advised that his son has been contracted
by the Wolfeboro Snomobile Club to plow the parking lot at 19 Mile Bay. He
wanted the town to know why the plow was being parked in the lot. The Police
Dept. will be notified. Mr. Laase was advised to contact the Road Agent as
well.
The meeting was adjourned at 7:35
pm.
Respectfully Submitted,
