Minutes:
The Selectmen’s meeting minutes of 1-31-05 will be discussed next week.
Items for Signature: Application for Veterans
Credit for MacPhee; Grzelak & Co. Engagement Understanding for Audit.
At approximately 9:10 am
Selectmen met with Dick St. Onge, President of North Country Village. Mr. St.
Onge advised that one of the residents at North
Country Village
has been burned out of his home. The insurance is barely able to cover the new
home and contents so he was looking for permission to bring the burned out
debris to the Transfer Station and would like to have any fees waived. After
some discussion it was decided that having a dumpster at the site would make
more sense. The Town would pay the container cost. The Administrative Assistant
will make the arrangements for delivery of the container. Mr. St. Onge
expressed his appreciation for the outstanding job done by the Fire and Police
Departments. He stated that he “was totally impressed with the professionalism
of the Fire Department”.
At approximately 9:20
Selectmen met with Fred Sargent. Mr. Sargent reported that the septic at the
Transfer Station had to be pumped as it was full and apparently froze up. This
is the first time this has happened so it was felt that there is some kind of
kink in the line. This will be checked first thing in the spring and in the
meantime the use of water will be limited.
Selectmen approved the Veterans Credit for MacPhee. The
auditor’s Engagement Understanding will be looked at in more detail for next
week.
The Highway Safety Committee meeting will be scheduled for
sometime after Town Meeting. The members include the Police Chief, Fire Chief,
Road Agent, Selectmen and Administrative Assistant.
At approximately 9:35
Selectmen met with Police Chief Shagoury. The Chief reported that the sergeant’s
position has to be advertised again since there were no potential candidates
from the last posting. The Chief also submitted a breakdown of the cost of the
new equipment for the new cruiser.
The Public Hearing on the Budget is scheduled for Tuesday February
8th at 7 pm at the Town
House.
The Public Hearing for the Library Warrant article is
scheduled for Monday February 14th at 6:30
before the start of the Selectmen’s meeting.
Ann Hackl attended the meeting to express her concerns about
the proposed warrant article for the Cheney Farm.
The Selectmen reviewed the total budget and made revisions
to the following:
- Police
– decreased by $6,420.00
- Fire
– decreased by $6,000.00
- Highway
– decreased by $9,200.00
- Transfer
Station – decreased by $1,000.00
- Welfare
– decreased by $5,000.00
The Selectmen also discussed the warrant article for the Public
Safety Building
and decreased it by $50,000.00.
The above changes will be presented to the Budget Committee
prior to the public hearing.
The meeting was adjourned at noon.
Respectfully Submitted,
Carolyn Sundquist
Administrative Assistant
