Chairman Weeks opened the public hearing for the library warrant article at 6:30 pm. The article is as follows: Shall we permit the public library to retain all money it receives from its income generating equipment to be used for general repairs and upgrading and for the purchase of books, supplies and income generating equipment? After several questions by the Selectmen answered by Library Trustee Carolyn Sundquist, Chairman Weeks closed the hearing at 6:40 pm. A motion was made by Selectman Albee to recommend the warrant article, seconded by Selectman Stockman with all in favor.

At approximately 6:40 Selectmen met with Code Officer Ted Wright. Mr. Wright reported that January had been slow but it is starting to pick up again. Mr. Wright then spoke about the importance of having a sprinkler system in public buildings.

Chairman Weeks advised that a meeting on Septage Management would be held in Sandwich on February 22nd starting at 6:05 pm. Selectman Stockman said that he would be able to attend.

At approximately 6:55 Selectmen met with Fire Chief Adam Thompson. Chief Thompson reported 42 fire, 8 medical, 2 service and one paramedic call for a total of 53 calls to date. There have been 24 calls in the last five days alone. An emergency shelter was set up at the school on Friday night, as there were still many families without electric due to the heavy snow. Seven families had been anticipated but six were placed before it was set up and the seventh was loaned a small generator that enabled her to stay in her home. Camp Belknap provided cots. Chief Thompson reported that the Police Department was very helpful in checking on people to see if they needed shelter and that it was very helpful to have the four wheel drive vehicles. Chief Thompson noticed while at the school that supplies for the hook up of the generator have already been delivered. Chief Thompson will be flying out to Michigan on Wednesday to inspect the new fire truck. After acceptance and payment the truck will be driven to Tuftonboro by HME. This was included in the purchase price of the vehicle.

Chairman Weeks asked if the Selectmen wanted to revisit the budget recommended by the Budget Committee. Selectman Albee stated that the budget should be submitted without the Selectmen’s recommendation. Selectman Stockman was in agreement.

The Selectmen approved and signed the following:

  • Dufresne-Henry Application & Certification for Payment #7
  • Lien Discharge for Canniff (2)
  • Grzelak & Co. Engagement Understanding
  • Supplemental Intent to Cut for Sauve

The Appointment to the Parks and Rec Committee will be held until the Selectmen have an opportunity to meet the candidate, Betsey McCarthy.

Chairman Weeks announced the polls would be open on March 8th from 10:00 am to 7:00 pm at the Town House and Town Meeting would be March 9th starting at 7:30 pm at Tuftonboro School.

Chairman Weeks will speak to DRA regarding the wording for the Cheney farm easement, Article #18. Wording on several other articles was fine-tuned. After hearing from DRA, re: Cheney, the warrant will be faxed to Town Counsel and Bob Anderson at DRA for final approval before posting.
