At approximately 3:00 Selectmen met with Bill Kaiser regarding the ongoing problem with beaver dams in the culvert on Brown Road. Mr. Kaiser presented pictures of the debris from the culverts floating in Lower Beech Pond. The culvert is being cleaned out by the Road Agent and the brush is being left in the water. Mr. Kaiser would like this removed from the lake. So far the road has been flooded twice this year. The beaver problem should be taken care of either by trapping them or putting in a bigger culvert since it does not make sense to continue doing the same thing over and over especially since it is not working. Mr. Kaiser said he would go to DES if he has to. Selectman Weeks advised that beaver could be trapped by anyone as long as they get permission from the landowner.

At approximately 3:15 Selectmen met with Fire Chief Adam Thompson. Chief Thompson reported that the holding tank at the Mirror Lake station had been pumped out last Monday and was full again by Wednesday. The tank was then dug up and found to have a good size crack in it. The tank was removed on Friday and a new 750- gallon tank put in its place with about 2 feet of fill on top.

The Selectmen discussed the request by the Planning Board to extend the approval deadline for two subdivisions – Zadeda Farms and Grady. A motion to approve the extension was made by Chairman Stockman. Seconded by Selectman Weeks with all in favor.

Gary Roberge and Loren Martin of Avitar will attend the 10/31/05 Selectmen’s meeting. The check for final payment will be held until then.

A motion to approve the revised MS-1 was made by Selectman Albee. Seconded by Chairman Stockman with all in favor.

Architect Mo Gagnon has scheduled another site visit next Tuesday in Lee.

The Selectmen approved and signed the following:

  • Intent to Cut for the Boston YMCA
  • Hilltop Sign Proposal
  • Right to Burial for Crouse
  • Right to Burial for Almquist, Butman, Haslett

The Selectmen reported that Fran and Ellen Laase have filed an appeal with the BTLA on their 2004 abatement. MRI will be informed.

Selectman Weeks drafted a letter to be sent to property owners advising that their property is being considered by the town as a site for the Public Safety Building. The specific properties will be discussed in executive session.

It was found that if the town paints a line on one road it is not required to paint lines on all roads. However, the lines must be maintained.

The Administrative Assistant was asked to complete the survey in this month’s Town & City for next Monday.

At approximately 3:45 Selectman Weeks made a motion to go into non-public session pursuant to RSA 91-A: 3 II (b) to discuss the proposed purchase of land. Selectman Albee seconded the motion. Roll call: Chairman Stockman – yes, Selectman Albee – yes, Selectman Weeks – yes.

The meeting was adjourned at 4:05 PM.

Respectfully Submitted,

Carolyn Sundquist
