*Accepted* 9-14-04
Selectmen present: Susan Weeks, Bill Stockman and Chip Albee.
The Selectmen held a special meeting on Tuesday September 7th
to open the sealed bids for the Town House renovation and the sale of town
property in Hidden Valley.
At approximately 4:00 PM
Chairman Weeks opened the one bid received for the town house. Architect Wes
Flierl was in attendance. Paul Kimball of Kimball’s Lumber
Center submitted a bid of
$6,132.00. This amount added to the pre-selected and assigned sub-contract cost
of $3,850.00 would total $9,982.00. Chairman Weeks will discuss this with the bidder
as it is more than was budgeted.
At approximately 4:15
the bids for the sale of the town-owned property in Hidden
Valley were opened. Selectman
Stockman made a motion to accept the high bids on the following properties:
69-2-25 Lot 59 Heritage Drive Candace Sharp $17,000.00
70-2-43 Lot F25 20 Valley Rd. William Deterling $ 7,111.10
70-2-53 Lot F19 20 Aspen Dr. J. R. Ames $ 4,529.00
70-2-73 Lot 64 12 Aspen Dr. J. R. Ames $ 4,529.00
Seconded by Selectman Albee with all in
favor.
At approximately 4:30
Selectmen met with Deputy Fire Chief Richard Piper. Mr. Piper reported that the
department has been offered a Blackbird generator for cost ($3,500.00), which
would be paid for by the Tuftonboro Firefighters Association. This generator
would be installed on the F550 truck, Rescue 1. The company has offered to do
this because they have not yet installed the generator on this type of truck.
There will be no charge for installation. The vehicle would be out of service
for no more than 2 weeks. The generator will not affect the operation of the
truck. A motion to approve the purchase of the Blackbird generator by the
Tuftonboro Firefighters Association was made by Selectman Stockman. Seconded by Selectman Albee with all in favor.
Chairman Weeks reported that she spoke to a Verizon
representative regarding the bill received for additional charges related to
the utility relocation at 19 Mile Beach. The charges for the 46.75 extra hours
were due to the right-of-way issues with Poirier and Laase. Verizon backed off
all the increases in rates from the time the job was originally quoted and
wrote off over $13,000.00. The Town is responsible for $7,480.00.
Other items mentioned were:
- Trash
barrels will be removed from the beaches on Columbus Day at the earliest.
- Selectman
Albee referred two boats on the town beach on Cow
Island to the Code Officer.
- Need
handicap signs for the election.
- Police
Dept. incidents are up about 25% over last year.
Joe Kowalski asked if it was assumed that the road agent
would be the one to work on the island rubbish pickup day as it has to be provided
for in the Solid Waste budget. Selectmen advised that if he was able to find
someone to do it cheaper it would be fine with them.
The meeting was adjourned at 5:05
PM.
Respectfully Submitted,
