Minutes: The Selectmen’s meeting minutes for 4-19-04 and non-public minutes for 4-19-04 were accepted.
At approximately 6:15, Selectman Stockman made a motion to go into non-public session pursuant to RSA 91-A: 3 II (b) to discuss a personnel issue. Roll call: Chairman Weeks – yes, Selectman Stockman – yes.
At approximately 6:45 Selectmen met with Ted Bense. Mr. Bense questioned if the town was using the same policy for reimbursement as last year for the Lakes Region Household Hazardous Product Facility located in Wolfeboro. The Selectmen stated the same policy would be in effect – start with a $25.00 reimbursement and then if there was money reimburse up to $50.00 per household.
Mr. Bense also had a question regarding the new light at 19 Mile Beach. It has not been hooked up. He has someone who will do it for free and then it would be a $10-$11.00 flat fee per month for the electric. Selectmen gave their approval to have it hooked up as long as it is comparable to what was there originally.
The replacement of the fence at the beach was discussed. Selectman Stockman said that we would have to go back to the state if we were looking for them to do something. Parks and Rec thought that a guardrail would work. It was decided in the end to have Mr. Bense place some shrubs on the town property for the time being and that Mr. Bense would get a price quote for a 3-foot fence. The gate still needs to be replaced and that will be included in the price quote.
Parks and Rec would like to put a horseshoe pit, volleyball net and foursquare pad at the beach. The Selectmen would like to visit the site and have the proposed changes staked out.
Chairman Weeks announced that Ted Bense has agreed to be the town’s representative for the LRPC Household Hazardous Product Collection to be held 7/31 and/or 8/7.
At approximately 7:10 Selectmen met with Road Agent Steve Hunter. Mr. Hunter reported that paving of Ledge Hill Road should start in June. Mr. Hunter was informed of the island pick-up day scheduled for 7/31. Mr. Hunter also reported that 2 of the pilings at Melvin Wharf have broken off and several others look bent. The pilings were put in to protect the wharf. A permit to replace all 6 will have to be filed with the Wetlands Bureau. The pilings at Union Wharf will be checked for damage.
The following were approved for signature:
Chairman Weeks said she discussed the issue brought up last week by Phil Martin with the police chief. The accident report was being worked on but due to several inconsistencies and the fact that the license number had not been originally noted there was not much the police could do. Also the owner of the alleged vehicle lived in Effingham and stated that he does not come to Tuftonboro. Police Chief Shagoury will contact Mr. Martin.
At approximately 7:35, Selectman Stockman made a motion to go into non-public session pursuant to RSA 91-A: 3 II (b) to discuss a personnel issue and then a welfare issue. Roll call: Chairman Weeks – yes, Selectman Stockman – yes.
The meeting was adjourned at 8:10 PM.
Respectfully Submitted,
