The Selectmen’s meeting convened at 8:40 am at the Town House. Selectmen met with Code
Officer Ted Wright. Mr. Wright suggested training someone to replace him for
vacations. Selectmen advised to put in a budget request. Selectmen discussed
the ADA exit requirements and
whether a ramp is required. Architect Flierl has submitted a letter stating his
opinion that a ramp is not required for an alteration to an existing building
where an ADA ramp already exists
and the building capacity does not exceed 175 people. Mr. Wright agreed with
this interpretation.
Selectmen discussed the grass on the landfill – it seems to
be filling in. A motion was made to accept the closure of the landfill as
complete. All in favor.
Selectmen next discussed the Mirror Lake Protective
Association letter regarding the Libby
Park. It was decided to pose the
question to the townspeople via the Town Warrant in March.
At approximately 9:30
Selectmen met with Fred Sargent and Joe Kowalski to review the proposed Solid
Waste budget. The mowing of the closed landfill was discussed. It was felt that
it should be cut once a year but we may not be able to drive equipment over it
due to the vent pipes. Dufresne-Henry will be asked to submit a proposal for
well and gas monitoring of the landfill. Two new line items were added to the
budget –
·
Island Clean Up Day - $1,000.00
·
Electronics Disposal - $1,000.00
Increased the budget for Recycling Assistant II to
$21,840.00. All other items were approved as submitted.
At approximately 10:20
Selectmen met with Fire Chief Adam Thompson to review the Fire Department
budget. Officer salary was adjusted to $46,512.00 from $59,335.00. The part
time captain was budgeted at 30 hours per week at $12.25 per hour. All other
line items remained the same. Chief Thompson reported that well test results at
both stations showed that the water needs to be treated to make it drinkable.
At approximately 11:20
Selectmen met with Ann Hackl to review the Cheney Farm easement documents and
went through the first draft of the document. Ms. Hackl will make revisions and
it will be referred to Town Counsel for his response to several questions the
Selectmen have as well as a general review.
The meeting was adjourned at 1:10
pm.
Selectmen reconvened at 3:30
pm and met with Police Chief Andy Shagoury to review the Police
Department budget. The following changes were made:
- Overtime
- $5500.00
- New
equipment - $1000.00
- Office
Supplies - $4,000.00
- Office
Assistant - $10,920.00
Total budget - $214,792.00
At approximately 4:20
Selectmen met with Road Agent Steve Hunter to review the Highway Department
budget. The Subsidy/Highway Block Grant line item is to be renamed Road
Construction. There was a general discussion of projects and prices. This
budget will be revisited.
The meeting was adjourned at 5:15
pm.
