Minutes: The Selectmen’s meeting minutes of 11-8-04 were approved as corrected.

Items for Signature:  Dufresne-Henry Landfill Long-Term, Post-Closure Monitoring Contract for 2005; Tax Abatement for Lakes Region Conservation Trust; Forbes BTLA Appeal; Intent to Cut for John Edgerly Jr.

At approximately 6:30 Selectmen reviewed the Dufresne-Henry Post-Closure Monitoring Contract. Selectmen had an issue with some of the wording in Attachment D and also had a couple of questions. Tom Sweeney or another representative will be asked to attend the next Selectmen’s meeting.

Selectman Albee reported he spoke to Town Counsel regarding the PAK2000 lawsuit. Apparently it has already gone to trial so the Town would have to pursue a lawsuit on its own. Attorney Sullivan is waiting to hear the outcome of the trial and will then advise the Town as to what course to pursue.

Selectmen approved and signed the following:

  • Lakes Region Conservation Trust abatement
  • BTLA Appeal for Forbes
  • Intent to Cut for John Edgerly Jr.

The Loon Preservation Committee request for support will be presented to the Budget Committee.

Budgets will be presented to the Budget Committee first and then if necessary the department heads will be asked to attend. It should be noted that all salaries are tentative at this point.

The following budgets will be presented to the Budget Committee at their meeting on Tuesday:

  • Fire Dept.                   $223,483.00
  • Police Dept.               $216,352.00
  • Solid Waste               $250,023.00
  • Health Agencies        $ 21,131.00

Joe Kowalski spoke to Jay Poulin regarding the Transfer Station survey; it will be completed in about a week.

At approximately 7:15 Selectmen met with Police Chief Andy Shagoury. Selectman Albee noticed a sign on Durgin Rd., which read Licensed Shooting Range. He asked Chief Shagoury to check into how it was licensed. Chief Shagoury requested changing the Administrative Assistant line item in the Police budget to reflect 20 hours per week. After some discussion it was agreed to change the line item. Chief Shagoury also presented several comparisons of wages and benefits offered in other towns. There was much discussion about raises and benefits, which will be discussed again next week when Gary Chehames meets with the Selectmen regarding the Personnel Policy.

The meeting was adjourned at 8:10 pm.

Respectfully Submitted,

Carolyn Sundquist

Administrative Assistant
