At approximately 6:40, Selectmen met with Tom Whalen and Jeanne Tempest regarding an issue between North Country Village and a sub-contractor for Adelphia. In doing some trenching in the park the sub-contractor cut a line in which 6 lights were affected. They had been trying to get this issue resolved and thought the next step would be to talk to the Selectmen. In the meantime, Mr. Whalen received a phone call on Sunday morning and Eustis Cable said the problem should be fixed by the end of the week. As they had made the appointment prior to this phone call Mr. Whalen thought he would come in just to make the Selectmen aware.

Selectman Weeks reported on a letter received from Adelphia in which Keith Froleiks advised that the fiber optic cable should arrive by the 15th and that the first customer in Tuftonboro would be hooked up in August with all homes upgraded by October. Mr.

Froleiks also stated that Tuftonboro is a priority and would be completed ahead of Moultonboro, Tamworth and Ossipee. Mr. Froleiks asked the Town to try to get the poles moved at 19 Mile Bay to push the project along and help reduce costs.

Police Chief Andy Shagoury announced the hiring of a new officer, Tom LaFavre. Mr. LaFavre will start on 8/14 and begin the academy on 8/25. The Town Clerk will swear in Mr. LaFavre on Friday. County and state may be available to cover or they may not depending on what other things are happening in the county/area and how their priorities are set.

Selectman Weeks asked Chief Shagoury how it was working out with the department being so short handed. Chief Shagoury advised that they are doing the best they can but they are being stretched a little thin. The Chief explained that help is occasionally requested from surrounding towns and from the county and state.

At approximately 8:10, Selectman Stockman made a motion to go into non-public session pursuant to RSA 91-A: 3 II (c) to discuss a welfare issue. Selectman Weeks seconded the motion. Roll call: Selectman Weeks – yes, Selectman Stockman – yes.

The meeting was adjourned at 7:25 PM.
