MEETING OF THE SELECTMEN

Selectmen present: Rick Chellman, Susan Weeks and Bill Stockman.

 

Selectmen reviewed mail, which included:  Building Permits for Ronald & Norma Whittum, Peter C. Morrill, Guy Pike, James Woodson Sr.; Approval for Construction for Ann/Emile Poisson, David/Kristie Smith, Bonnie/Stephen Moreschi; Approval for Operation for Frederick Hayes; Property Transfer from George K. Plummer, III to David B. Jordan, Jr., Richard W. Bartlett, et al to Jefferson Bailey; Notice of Administrative Completeness fro Marriott from DES; Memo re: Agreement & Release for Holland; Response from Dufresne-Henry re: Landfill Long Term Closure Costs for financial Assurance; Dufresne-Henry Creating Better Places info; West Nile Virus press release; Primex Prime Time; US Bankruptcy Court re: Beckett; Inspector newsletter; Business Review.

 

Items for signature:  Intent to Cut for J. Pierce Trust; Timber Tax Levy; Forest Fire Reimbursement; Contract with Genealogical Society of Utah.

 

Minutes: The minutes of the 7/21/03 meeting were approved.

 

At approximately 6:30, Selectmen reviewed Building Permits with Codes Officer Ted Wright.

 

Selectman Stockman reported that he has still not received an answer from the state regarding the fence. Chairman Chellman will call the state.

 

The Selectmen reviewed the request by the Genealogical Society of Utah to microfilm the Town’s records. The contract will be sent to Town Counsel for review.

 

At approximately 6:40, the Selectmen met with the Personnel Policy Committee – Gary Chehames, Rick Friend and Howard Clark. Mr. Chehames presented the committees recommendations.

The committee still has to do a job evaluation form and a labor pay grade scale. They are prepared to assist in any way in the plan implementation. The final package will be ready by 8/11 and distributed to employees that week. A daytime meeting with employees will be held sometime after Labor Day. When questioned all said they would continue on the committee if it becomes permanent. The Selectmen thanked the committee for their time.

 

Code Officer Ted Wright questioned what he was supposed to be doing about junk cars. Selectman Weeks said they would have to read through the folder and come up with a plan.

 

Chief Shagoury advised that he would have the names of the candidates for next Monday.

 

Chairman Chellman spoke to Tom Sweeney regarding his response to the Selectmen. Mr. Sweeney was not able to release it because his supervisor has not yet approved it.

Mr. Sweeney said that Northeast Earth Mechanics is scheduled to start again next week but his phone calls have not been returned. The landfill cap has been approved.

 

Recycling Supervisor Fred Sargent reported that the dumpster needed for the island rubbish pickup was never delivered. He will contact Waste Management on Tuesday to find out what happened.  The rented compactor appears to be working.

 

The Selectmen asked to have the Road Agent attend next Monday’s meeting.

 

Selectman Weeks said that John Levesque has made and donated a new Tuftonboro sign for Durgin Road.

 

Fred Sargent asked that a thank you letter be sent to John Lewis for volunteering to help with the island rubbish pickup.

 

Chairman Chellman is still waiting for a return call from Wolfeboro Town Manager Paul Skowron.

 

Chairman Chellman has contacted Verizon regarding the utility relocation and a letter was sent confirming that the move should be done as soon as possible.

 

Selectmen discussed the Hidden Valley properties. Chairman Chellman will look them over and make a recommendation.

David Hynes from DRA will attend next weeks meeting to talk about the town’s revaluation in 2005.

 

Selectmen Weeks will contact the Parks & Rec. committee regarding the resignation of Bill Antonucci, and a possible replacement, and his offer to be the ice rink director.

 

The meeting was adjourned at 8:25 PM.
