Selectman Weeks made a motion to approve the request from the Tax Collector to abate the 2001 timber tax in the amount of $652.50 for John Davis. Seconded by Selectman Stockman, with all in favor.
Selectman Stockman advised that Harold Eisley has volunteered for the Public Safety Building Needs Committee. His name will be kept on file.
Chairman Chellman advised he has talked to Town Counsel regarding the proposed contract for the Lakes Region HHW Product Facility. The Town was advised against signing the agreement. Selectman Weeks suggested meeting with the Alton representative and to also speak with the Moultonborough Town Administrator. Selectmen felt that there seems to be no benefit in becoming a member.
Selectmen discussed the recommendations from MRI for abatement for Broadfoot and a supplemental tax bill for D. & I. L. Realty. Selectman Weeks made a motion to approve the recommendation to abate the 2003 tax for Broadfoot in the amount of
$137.70 and to issue a supplemental tax bill for D. & I. L. Realty in the amount of $459.00. Seconded by Selectman Stockman with all in favor.
At approximately 6:50, Selectmen met with Bill Antonucci, Ice Rink Director. Mr. Antonucci advised that the liner was put in place on Saturday and that he was very grateful for the 12 or 13 people who showed up to help. The water is to be delivered Tuesday around noon, approximate cost is $900.00. Mr. Antonucci also submitted a bill from J. R. Ames & Sons for trucking the sand from Fred Sargent’s property to the rink site. Mr. Ames donated part of his time. Selectmen approved the payment. Mr. Antonucci asked the Selectmen to consider the purchase of a snow blower, he will check to see if it could be stored at the school. Mr. Antonucci also felt that any snowfall over 2 inches should be plowed. Storage of the rink is an issue and that Mr. Antonucci should look into the purchase of a shed. Selectman Stockman advised that he has one at Spider Web that might be available. Notices will be sent through the school asking for volunteers to help maintain the ice rink. The Selectmen thanked Mr. Antonucci for his time.
At approximately 7:25, Selectmen met with Road Agent Steve Hunter. Mr. Hunter discussed his budget for the upcoming year. Mr. Hunter felt that the numbers seem to be working for him so will not make too much of a change in the existing line items. He would, however, like to add a line item ($10,000.00) for hazardous tree removal and one for creating 50’ aprons on the dirt roads that abut paved roads ($10,000.00). This will help with maintenance. Mr. Hunter has not received an estimate yet for proposed paving in 2004. County Road was put on the list to be paved since the County Road Bridge is scheduled for repair in 2004. Mr. Hunter noted that there are 5% more roads now than when he first started. The Selectmen thanked Mr. Hunter for his time.
Selectmen discussed the agreement with Holmberg and determined that a $25,000.00 bond should be posted when Mr. Holmberg signs the agreement. The Town is obligated, even though it is a Class VI road, to fix the road in the event an unsafe condition is created by the work that Mr. Holmberg is doing. The agreement was signed and will be forwarded to Town Counsel.
The Downie deed was withdrawn and sent to Town Counsel for an opinion. All other items were signed.
The meeting was adjourned at 8:10 pm.
At
approximately 8:10, Selectman Weeks made a motion to go into non-public session
pursuant to RSA 91-A: 3 II (a) to discuss performance appraisals. Selectman
Stockman seconded the motion. Roll call: Selectman Chellman, Selectman Weeks –

Respectfully Submitted,
