Police Chief Shagoury reported that Officer Tom Lafavre has been doing well at the Academy and has 4 weeks left to go with his training. Ads have been placed in the papers for the recruitment of the 4th officer. The new cruiser has been ordered.

It was announced that the Town Office is now hooked up to Adelphia’s high-speed Internet access. The new e-mail address is totboro@adelphia.net.

At approximately 7:05, Selectmen met with Road Agent Steve Hunter. Mr. Hunter advised that Pike Industries is not available to return to the Town this year to do additional paving. There is about $14,000.00 left in the paving budget and Mr. Hunter was looking to pave another road. He asked if it would be possible to hold the money over into next year. The Selectmen thought they would be able to do this but will check with Town Counsel. Mr. Hunter will be meeting with Pike shortly to go over the roads to be paved next year for a cost estimate. Mr. Hunter also expressed a need to have money allocated to the removal of hazardous trees. It would possibly be an ongoing line item.

Selectman Stockman reported that he has been speaking with Ellen Watts of the Islanders Association regarding the article in the Tuftonboro Times on the Cow Island easement request. Ms. Watts advised that many island residents are quite concerned. Selectman Weeks said an island resident also approached her with questions as to what it would mean. The Selectmen are advising anyone with an issue to please put it in writing.

The Budget Committee will be meeting with the Selectmen next week. The Committee is looking to be more pro-active in the budget process.

Selectmen reviewed the Code Officer’s proposed building permit fee changes. It was agreed to adopt option A. Selectman Stockman made a motion to accept the building permit fee changes as proposed by Code Officer Ted Wright. Seconded by Selectman Weeks, with all in favor. See attached for new rates.

Selectmen reviewed the proposals from the 3 firms (HE Bergeron, Provan & Lorber and Hoyle, Tanner & Associates) requested to bid on the County Road Bridge repair. Chairman Chellman will make some calls.

Chairman Chellman advised that Tom Sweeney from Dufresne-Henry said we would have a 2% holdback on the payment for the landfill closure to guarantee the seeding for a year.

The meeting was adjourned at 8:15 PM.

Respectfully Submitted,
